What is Rotary?
Rotary is a global network of community volunteers dedicated to tackling some of the world’s most pressing humanitarian challenges. With over 1.4 million members in more than 46,000 clubs worldwide, we are united by a common purpose: to create lasting change across the globe, in our communities, and in ourselves.
Rotary, A Global Force for Good
Rotary’s mission is to “provide service to others, promote integrity, and advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace through the fellowship of business, professional, and community leaders”. As a non-political and non-religious organisation, Rotary unites over 1.2 million members worldwide who volunteer approximately 47 million hours annually to address critical global challenges.
Our global causes include promoting peace, fighting disease (with a significant focus on polio eradication), providing clean water and sanitation, saving mothers and children, supporting education and literacy, fostering local economies, and protecting the environment.
Our Mission and Values
Rotary’s motto is “Service Above Self.” This principle guides us in everything we do. Our members are committed to the Four-Way Test, a set of ethical standards used to guide our actions and decisions:
- Is it the TRUTH?
- Is it FAIR to all concerned?
- Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
- Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?
We focus our efforts on seven key areas: promoting peace, fighting disease, providing clean water, saving mothers and children, supporting education, growing local economies, and protecting the environment.

A Worldwide Network of Good
Rotary is made up of local clubs, each of which is a part of this powerful international network. When you join the Rotary Club of Bath, you are not only committing to serving your local community but also connecting with people from every corner of the globe who share your passion for making a difference.
Our diverse membership includes business leaders, professionals, and community leaders who exchange ideas, build friendships, and take action.
Through our collective efforts, we are able to take on local challenges with global resources and have a real, tangible impact on the world.
