Spectacular show lights up Bath for charity

The Rotary Club of Bath organised a spectacular light and firework show on the Rec in the heart of Bath on 1st November, bringing thousands of all ages into the city and raising thousands of pounds for local charities.

More than 60 students from the University of Bath, organised by the Students’ Union, helped steward the event.

The event, sponsored by Bath Recreation Ltd and MJ Church, saw volunteers from the Rotary Club, supported by dozens of students from the University of Bath, prepare the Rec and tidy up afterwards, meaning there was minimal disruption to the normal running of the Rec for other users.

The event raised money for local charities, the Glasshouse Academy, Bath Rugby Foundation, Bath Community Kitchen and Theatre Royal’s community theatre project, Venue 4. Remaining funds went into the Rotary Club’s own charitable Trust, for distribution to charities and charitable causes over the next twelve months. The Club has already decided to make a contribution to the relief effort for those affected by Hurricane Melissa.
